Guidance Notes

The Mayor of London, and the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime on his behalf, is responsible for overseeing the Met Police. The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC), established by the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011, works on behalf of Londoners to hold the Met to account and has a broad remit to improve the provision of criminal justice and crime reduction services across the city. Our people are at the forefront of delivering public safety in London.

We are now looking to refresh the panel of advisers and to engage one Non-Executive Adviser to counsel and aid the Mayor and Deputy Mayor acting as critical friends in discharging these significant new Mayoral functions.

The position will focus on Crime Prevention:

• Bringing experience of working for or with partner agencies (public organisations including local authorities, criminal justice organisations and similar) providing leadership in this area and understanding how to motivate and lead innovative collaboration in this area.

To be successful in this role you will share the vision and values of MOPAC, will demonstrate an inspired vision for crime reduction in London and a dedication to serving London’s communities. You will have substantial board level experience including advising on strategy and policy, have an acute awareness of relevant commercial and political issues and the ability to be responsive to the organisation’s needs for robust and visible governance.

The time commitment for this role is expected to be 3-4 days per month. Non-Executive Advisers are remunerated £500 per day. They will report directly to the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime. The non-executive advisers will be office holders and not employees of the MOPAC.

We would particularly welcome applicants from minority and ethnic groups who are under-represented in this sector.
