Research Analyst Assistant

We are looking to appoint a Research Analyst Assistant to work within Evidence & Insight. This is a dedicated in-house social research team consisting of experienced social researchers and analysts conducting research into crime, criminal justice and policing for London. The team work for the Mayor’s Office for Policing And Crime (MOPAC) which is the organisation through which the Mayor of London exercises his role as the Police and Crime Commissioner for London.

Working within this multi-skilled flexible team - the role holder will assist in the delivery of high quality research to support MOPAC, specifically within the research/evaluation of initiatives funded by the Home Office Police Innovation Fund.   Within the overall Innovation Fund portfolio are research/evaluation pieces such as:

  • A specifically targeted partnership approach to Offender Management directed at individuals who have very high levels of previous offending. 
  • An innovative approach to data sharing and tackling violent crime.
  • A longitudinal approach to tracking Metropolitan Police Staff perceptions in receipt of innovative training.

These initiatives conclude March 2017. The primary aim of the role will be to support the work of Research Analysts within the team on a variety of research and analytic projects.  Duties would be varied, and include work such as desk based research, data entry, data cleaning, contributing to the design of research (e.g., survey, interview designs), fieldwork, and assisting in the analysis and writing up research.

The role holder would also be expected, where necessary to maintain efficient office administration systems for the team – and support staff around research/event planning, coordination of staff calendars or other administrative support.

You  will also be expected to work very closely with policy and staff implementing the initiatives, in particular around data capture and emphasising programme integrity.
