Programme Manager – Active Citizenship

The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is the organisation through which the Mayor of London exercises his role as the Police and Crime Commissioner for London and is led by the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime. MOPAC undertakes a broad range of statutory duties and works closely with the Mayor of London, Deputy Mayor and Metropolitan Police Service to deliver the priorities that will create safer London communities.

This is an exciting time to join MOPAC to drive the delivery of a new Police and Crime Plan for London. We are a dedicated, professional, highly skilled workforce and are committed to equality and diversity.

This role will be responsible for developing and implementing MOPAC’s new approach on public engagement and active citizenship – by devising processes, training and incentives that enable, encourage and inspire local communities to play an active part in reducing crime for themselves and in their neighbourhoods.

The successful candidate will require a solid background in developing and delivering public engagement and active citizenship in diverse areas.  The ability to effectively analyse policy and research and translate that into practice will also be essential, as well as effective programme management skills and the ability to influence and collaborate with a range of partners.

Political Restriction; under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 (as amended by the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011) all members of staff of the MOPAC will be politically restricted without the right to apply for an exemption.

The successful candidates will be expected to undergo the necessary security vetting which may take up to 8 weeks to be completed. Applicants will also need to have resided in the UK continuously for at least the last three years.
