Executive Assistant

The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is the organisation through which the Mayor of London exercises his role as the Police and Crime Commissioner for London and is led by the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime. MOPAC undertakes a broad range of statutory duties and works closely with the Mayor of London, Deputy Mayor and Metropolitan Police Service to deliver the priorities that will create safer London communities.

MOPAC are seeking a politically astute, highly skilled, efficient Executive Assistant to support the MOPAC’s Chief Executive Officer and Director of Strategy, for a fixed-term period to cover maternity leave. In this role, you will work sensitively with politicians and senior officials by understanding their respective roles and support the day to day operation of the Chief Executive Officer, Director of Strategy and the wider work of MOPAC. You will maintain vital contacts with the Mayor’s Office, Metropolitan Police Service, London’s Criminal Justice system and London Government. 

Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills is required as well as an understanding of London government and the role of the Mayor’s Office. Plus, a willingness to work collaboratively and flexibly across a range of complex and demanding briefs. The ideal candidate will have significant experience of providing a professional executive support service in a political environment using high levels of autonomy and intuition.

Relevant qualifications and/or high level secretarial and PA skills is required, plus excellent organisational skills, ability to multi-task and organise others, minute taking experience and diary management. Please note that the successful candidate is expected to complete security clearance

 

Political Restriction; under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 (as amended by the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011) all members of staff of the MOPAC will be politically restricted without the right to apply for an exemption.

 

The successful candidates will be expected to undergo the necessary security vetting which may take up to 8 weeks to be completed. Applicants will also need to have resided in the UK continuously for at least the last three years.
