Programme Officer

Are you passionate about making a difference to young Londoners? Some of London’s most vulnerable children and young people are affected by abuse, exploitation, violence and gangs. Keeping Londoners safe is the Mayor’s top priority. MOPAC is looking for a Programme Officer to work on a 3-day job share basis (preferably Wednesday to Friday) to work within their Safer Youth team. This is a key role within an exciting and ambitious team that works to ensure young people have access to specialist support needed to help them cope and recover from trauma and/or reduce risk of victimisation and exploitation.

The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is the organisation through which the Mayor of London exercises his role as the Police and Crime Commissioner for London and is led by the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime. MOPAC undertakes a broad range of statutory duties and works closely with the Mayor of London, Deputy Mayor and Metropolitan Police Service to deliver the priorities that will create safer London communities.

The Programme Officer role will support the commissioning of services and develop policy to prevent crime, reduce reoffending, support victims and assist the delivery of the Mayor’s new Police & Crime Plan commitments. You'll work collaboratively across MOPAC and the Greater London Authority as well as the third sector, community safety and criminal justice partner agencies.

·         Has the ability to build relationships, influence and negotiate with stakeholders and partners.

·         Has the skills or experience that enable effective programme management and policy development.

·         Has strong written and verbal communication skills.

·         Can deliver at pace and work flexibly in order to meet MOPAC priorities.
