The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime’s (MOPAC) important mission is to hold the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) to account, challenge service delivery and value for money, and ensure London’s public service agencies work closely together and with communities.
MOPAC strives to champion the prevention of crime, the achievement of justice for victims, reduction in re-offending and will oversee everything from MPS budgets and policies to performance.
As an Assistant in the Strategic Finance and Resource Management (SFRM), you will be responsible for supporting the SFRM team in providing an effective financial management function within MOPAC and challenging the MPS to deliver an efficient and effective police force. This will include the opportunity to contribute to areas including budgeting, accounts closure, budget monitoring, capital investment and treasury management.
In an age of austerity this is an important role in the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime – ensuring that both MOPAC and the MPS deliver value for money. To be successful you’ll need knowledge of police finance, excellent numerical and communication skills and a can-do approach.
