The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is the organisation through which the Mayor of London exercises his role as the Police and Crime Commissioner for London and is led by the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime. MOPAC undertakes a broad range of statutory duties and works closely with the Mayor of London, Deputy Mayor and Metropolitan Police Service to deliver the priorities that will create safer London communities.
This is an exciting time to join MOPAC to drive the delivery of a new Police and Crime Plan for London. We are a dedicated, professional, highly skilled workforce and are committed to equality and diversity.
You’ll be joining the MOPAC Directorate of Audit, Risk and Assurance, a well-respected unit that has the interesting and challenging job of providing the internal audit service for a number of clients including the Metropolitan Police Service, the London Fire Brigade and the Greater London Authority.
For you this scale and scope means opportunities to deliver assurance to a wide client base that will ultimately ensure continuing, cost-effective services are delivered to Londoners. Your aim will be to identify key business risks, evaluate and test controls and identify areas of improvement, something you’ll do by planning and carrying out programmed audit assignments.
A good level of practical internal auditing experience is essential and will be supported by a recognised qualification (CIA/PIIA) together with membership of the appropriate professional body. In short, you’ll be someone who has a thorough understanding of systems and risk-based auditing, and the personal qualities and credibility to operate effectively as a representative of MOPAC.
The role provides career progression opportunities that could take the salary from a Grade 6 at £39,273 per annum to a Grade 5 at £46,362 per annum depending on qualification, business needs and experience.
Political Restriction; under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 (as amended by the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011) all members of staff of the MOPAC will be politically restricted without the right to apply for an exemption.
The successful candidates will be expected to undergo the necessary security vetting which may take up to 8 weeks to be completed. Applicants will also need to have resided in the UK continuously for at least the last three years.
