The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is the organisation through which the Mayor of London exercises his role as the Police and Crime Commissioner for London and is led by the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime. MOPAC undertakes a broad range of statutory duties and works closely with the Mayor of London, Deputy Mayor and Metropolitan Police Service to deliver the priorities that will create safer London communities.

 

This is an exciting time to join MOPAC to drive the delivery of a new Police and Crime Plan for London. We are a dedicated, professional, highly skilled workforce and are committed to equality and diversity.

 

The Head of Strategy and Governance will be responsible for the overall portfolio management of the Mayor’s Police and Crime Plan. The post holder will identify and mitigate the risks and issues impacting on delivery, and ensure effective Governance throughout MOPAC. The post is responsible for supporting the Deputy Mayor in the statutory responsibility of oversight of the Metropolitan Police Service, as well as supporting strategy development, democratic accountability and communications.

 

Political Restriction: under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 (as amended by the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011) all members of staff of the MOPAC will be politically restricted without the right to apply for an exemption.

 

The successful candidates will be expected to undergo the necessary security vetting which may take up to eight weeks to be completed. Applicants will also need to have resided in the UK continuously for at least the last three years.
