Shield Community Development Officer

The Shield Pilot is an exciting opportunity to support the Mayor’s Office for Policing And Crime (MOPAC) in the delivery of the London Crime Reduction Board’s Strategic Ambitions for London: Gangs and Serious Youth Violence.

We require a Shield Community Development Officer to act as the professional lead on community engagement and development, to engage with local community representatives in the three pilot boroughs in order build community support.  The aim is to reduce significant harm caused to our communities by a minority of individuals. In broader terms this work will continue to reduce the levels of violence and injury in the capital.

You will provide advice and support to partner agencies on both the establishment and implementation of the 'Community Moral Voice' and 'call in' processes. This will involve working with the Shield Delivery Officer in the development and drafting of guidance, producing briefing materials, presenting to and meeting with local stakeholders, community groups and voluntary organisations.

The post holder will be required to have awareness of the policing sector and extensive experience of working with community safety partnerships and delivery agencies. Must have excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills and will need extensive experience of engaging with the voluntary sector at a range of levels and extensive experience of Volunteer management.
